The Ancient Mountain of Uganda and a Hidden Hiking Paradise

Mount Elgon can be visited throughout the year, although the drier periods from June to August and December to February generally offer better conditions for hiking and outdoor activities. The mountain’s climate is cooler than many other parts of Uganda, making it ideal for travellers seeking an active highland adventure.

Reaching Mount Elgon National Park is relatively straightforward, with the park located near Mbale in eastern Uganda, approximately 4 to 5 hours by road from Kampala. Its location also makes it easy to combine with visits to Sipi Falls and other attractions in eastern Uganda.
