Begin with the visit at the historic Kasubi Tombs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the royal burial grounds of the Buganda kings. Here, you’ll gain insight into the spiritual and cultural traditions of the Buganda Kingdom and its enduring legacy in Ugandan history.
Visit the Lubiri (Kabaka’s Palace), the official residence of the King of Buganda, and learn about the kingdom’s governance, customs, and cultural heritage, which remain deeply influential in Uganda’s identity today.

After breakfast in Kampala, you will set off on a scenic drive southwest toward Mbarara, a vibrant town in the Ankole region known for its rich pastoral traditions and rolling green landscapes. The journey offers beautiful countryside views, including banana plantations, roadside markets, and traditional homesteads that reflect everyday life in rural Uganda. Upon arrival in Mbarara City, you will stop for lunch before continuing to the Rwenjeru Community, where you will be warmly welcomed by local pastoral families. Here, you will gain firsthand insight into the Ankole way of life, with a focus on cattle keeping and the iconic Ankole long-horned cattle. Activities include observing traditional milking, cattle herding, and watering practices, while community members share stories about pastoral traditions, land stewardship, and the cultural importance of livestock in shaping identity and livelihoods.
After this meaningful cultural interaction, you will continue your journey to Lake Mburo National Park, a peaceful wildlife haven characterized by rolling savannahs, acacia woodlands, and scattered wildlife. On arrival, you will check in at your lodge and take time to relax after the day’s activities, with the possibility of spotting wildlife near the accommodation as the sun sets over the park. The evening is spent at leisure, enjoying dinner and the calm atmosphere of the wilderness, marking a smooth transition from cultural immersion to the natural beauty of Uganda’s protected landscapes.
After breakfast, you will set out for an early morning game drive in Lake Mburo National Park, one of Uganda’s most accessible wildlife parks and a beautiful transition between savannah and wetland ecosystems. During the drive, you will explore open plains and acacia woodlands while observing a variety of wildlife, including zebras, impalas, elands, topis, buffaloes, and warthogs. The park is also known for its rich birdlife and scenic landscapes, offering excellent photography opportunities as the morning light spreads across the rolling hills. Your guide will help you track animals and share insights about the park’s unique ecology and conservation efforts.
After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch and a short period of relaxation before continuing your journey toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Following breakfast, you will begin a deeply immersive cultural experience with the Batwa community living around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This experience starts with a guided walk along the forest edge led by Batwa elders, who will share their ancestral knowledge of the rainforest they once called home. As you walk, you will learn how they traditionally relied on the forest for food, medicine, and shelter, including techniques for identifying edible plants, tracking small game, and using natural herbs for healing. The journey itself is scenic, passing through rolling green hills, terraced farmland, and picturesque countryside landscapes that gradually open up into Rwanda’s famous “land of a thousand hills.” Upon arrival, you will visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you will be warmly welcomed by the local community and introduced to traditional Rwandan culture through interactive experiences. You will participate in cultural demonstrations such as traditional dance, drumming, herbal medicine practices, and local crafts, all offering a hands-on understanding of daily life and heritage in this region.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, a world-class conservation and research center dedicated to the protection of mountain gorillas. Here, you will gain deeper insight into ongoing conservation efforts, scientific research, and the strong collaboration between local communities and conservationists. Exhibits and guided interpretation help bring to life the story of gorilla protection in the Virunga region.
